I very much enjoyed doing this, so look for more in the future. Although staying up past my bed time, once the rest of the house was asleep, did make me tired for work in the morning. Let me know what topics I should cover next.
So fucking good
Thank you.
I’m at work so only got to listen to about half of the podcast so far, but having fun.
I did jump straight to the haste section. I have been getting a lot of Haste shoved down my throat with recent drops (including the feet/hand legendaries, which were big upgrades, so I’m kind of stuck with them). I shot up from 6% to 11% Haste over the course of a weekend and have been considering switching out to some lower ilvl gear to get it back under 10% at least. However, I notice that my sims for multi-mob encounters shot up with the extra haste, and plotting shows it just going on up very linearly. Am I reading that wrong? If not, given that my particular schedule tends to revolve entirely around mythic/+ dungeons, where chain-pulling and thus AoE is my big contribution, should I just roll with the extra haste? (the -5 ilvl gear with better stats, which raises my ST parse 1% but drops Cleave parses by 10-12%?).
Haste bounces around on simulators due to the fixed time frames and many, but small, fluctuations in cooldowns. It’s on my list for the next podcast, probably sooner rather than later. If you’re chain pulling in M+ then you can certainly have the extra haste so that you can cast more SCK. In general when looking at the stat weights you can set haste to 4 or 5 for something like Pawn, so it knows haste isn’t useless, it’s just not as useful as the other stats.
Very awesome first podcast! I really enjoyed listening to this while working on tickets at work. I have been playing all 3 specs of monk since day one and always try to edge out every bit of performance that i can.
Most of this sounded familiar to me but the way you explained why haste is bad really resolved some struggle i was having with understanding the stat, so thank you for that!
Thanks for the content once again!
Really good!, Especially the part about overspamming.
Although i would like to see a video of something like that where we can see what YOU do in certain situations.
For example one of your youtube video’s with kills.
Edit it with what spell you use and why you should wait for it.
Bottomline:
Nice work! keep up the good work!
As nice as that may be, its still a lot of work, specially the editing. It also assumes that I’m doing things correctly for a whole fight, which I’m most certainly not. Going to stick with the podcasts for now, one step at a time.
Really good and well explained information, thank you for that (and for everything else you take the time to do)!
If I got to choose, I’d be keen to hear about how to best use SCK on big packs (prioritizing BoK:s for extra stacks vs more SCK casts).
Great podcast, keep up the good work!

See you next Monk-th!
Great podcast, I was one of the unfortunate few who tried to do something all of the time for chi/energy. Great tips in there.
If you still need a signoff…
See you next Monk-th!
That’s actually a really great one, except I should doing it more frequently than rhat
Or instead…
“Follow our guide and avoid all the stress, and make your raid crave Windwalker dps.
Love it man, this really helped me out a lot kept me from spamming BOK and TP lol. I was doing that a lot.
Hey Babs, great work, and thank you for taking the time to put this podcast together. Definitely learned a few more things listening to this.
Side note:
Regarding the WeakAuras you linked (namely, the Time2Serenity Window) seems to be bugged, for me at least. After digging a bit through the code changed one line in the Actions.Init.Custom panel (aura_env.biggest_cd= 0 -> aura_env.biggest_cd= 1) to reflect the 1-index of the table, and it now works like a charm.
Not sure if everyone will have the issue, but if you try to import these and face the same error, there you go 🙂
I’ll look into that. Thanks
Hey Babs, great podcast! Are you on itunes or pocket cast? Would be nice to get automatic downloads of your episodes.
I haven’t looked into that yet, but I do plan to
Great first episode! The spamming discussion was an eye-opener – I had certainly been one of those trying to hit something every second. Time to begin some retraining! Thanks for doing this!
“haste” its not bad, its only our least useful stat =)
This was an amazing listen. Incredibly insightful. Thanks so much for your time!
Great podcast, I have a question about the opener you mentioned at around 38.30ish. You said RSK – FoF – RSK – SoTW. However in the guide you have SoTW before the first FoF. Was that just me missunderstanding what you mean? Should I still use SoTW before my first FoF?
If you can fit a third RSK into Serenity then you need to RSK FoF RSK SotW. If not then SotW goes before FoF. Depending on latency, you need bloodlust and maybe another haste proc to do so.
I was listening to ur podcast. I been ww / mw / bm for long time now. I do not share that same xp of running out of resources when spamming. I tiger and bok a lot to build up bonus dmg for fof. Never once lacked energy or chi for the heavy hitters on CD. Usually get fof bonus stack to seven sometimes ten depending on how heavy movement on fight is. That almost seems crucial for dmg gain tho. Same manner as building up as much stacks of sck to do the most and maintain high numbers. It’s really cool to see a community for monks. I’ve gotten mastery to 30 verse to 20 haste at 9 and crit around 30 to 40 before. Doesn’t seem much of an overall difference with crit 30 – 40. BUT with my other setup of 25 crit 30 haste fml at work can’t remember if it’s 20 or 26 mastery and 9 verse seems to outperform by a lot. I dunno. Like to see thoughts and experiences of other monks with various setups. I think over stacking certain stats is a way to conform a playstyle that one finds enjoyable. That it evens out with the right talents and rotations to go with that stat stack to provide diversity.
I get sick numbers with sck stacking 9-12 fast popping sef and tiger and bok. Then it’s sck. Tiger and sck repeatedly while I got big stacks. It’s hawt
