Advanced: PvE Conduits

by

Welcome to PeakofSerenity’s Brewmaster Monk PvE Conduit Guide. This guide is designed to be a more in-depth look at the Conduit recommendations from the main PvE guide. Navigate quickly to the section you need using the sidebar on the right.

This guide has been updated for Patch 9.0 and is regularly updated when discussion, theorycrafting, or testing yields new information.

Brewmaster Potency Conduits

Walk with the Ox
Source General Kaal in the Sanguine Depths
Raiding Rating Seek Out
Mythic+ Rating Fine

Walk with the Ox is a sneaky conduit. While the increase to Stomp damage is highlighted, the biggest potential value from this conduit actually comes from the cooldown reduction attached to it: if the cooldown reduction allows you to cast Invoke Niuzao an additional time, it is (almost) always worth using over other conduits. However, if you do not get an additional cast then the Covenant conduits are (almost) always better.

The increase to Stomp damage does increase the damage done by the second rank of the ability. However, the DPS impact of this is difficult to sim and as a result we will need to wait until we have additional logs to judge its true value.

Scalding Brew
Source Surgeon Stitchflesh in The Necrotic Wake
Raiding Rating Skip
Mythic+ Rating Fine

If you’ve been paying attention to Brewmasters throughout the beta process, you will doubtless remember the times where this started at 25% increased damage and scaled much faster than it currently does. However, with the nerfs to this trait it cannot compete with the Covenant conduits in any scenario and is worse than Walk with the Ox in most raiding scenarios. However, Invoke Niuzao is not as strong in AoE settings and as a result this conduit may become a good second potency conduit in Mythic+.

Covenant Potency Conduits

Bone Marrow Hops
Covenant Necrolord
Source World Bosses
Raiding Rating Seek Out
Mythic+ Rating Seek Out

While the Necrolord’s signature conduit has fallen from the heights it reached on beta, it is still very good. The damage effect is stronger than either of our potency conduits, and the cooldown reduction is a nice cherry on top.

Important Note: the Bonedust Brew cooldown reduction is now capped at 2.5 seconds. This means that the beta coverage you may find of 100% BDB uptime is no longer possible. However, the conduit as a whole is still very good.

Strike with Clarity
Covenant Kyrian
Source World Bosses
Raiding Rating Seek Out
Mythic+ Rating Seek Out

This conduit’s value is based wholly on the increased Mastery it provides. While the increased Weapons of Order duration will sometimes allow you to squeeze in an additional Keg Smash, this depends on your Haste level and is not reliable. However, the Mastery bonus is sizable and provides a defensive value and okay offensive value.

Way of the Fae
Covenant Night Fae
Source World Bosses
Raiding Rating Fine
Mythic+ Rating Seek Out

While this conduit provides a serviceable damage boost in raid, its true power is found in Mythic+ where you can reliably hit multiple targets with Faeline Stomp.

Imbued Reflections
Covenant Venthyr
Source World Bosses
Raiding Rating Fine
Mythic+ Rating Skip

Although this conduit is actually quite good (relatively speaking), it is undermined by the weakness of the ability it buffs. This is a serviceable conduit for raiding, but is much worse than other options in Mythic+.

Endurance Conduits

Endurance conduits (ostensibly) improve the defensive power of the player. However, the options available to Brewmasters are weak enough that when practical you will try to avoid Endurance slots in the Soulbind tree.

While other Endurance conduits exist than are covered in this section, they are not relevant to PvE content.

Celestial Effervescence
Source Dessia the Decapitator in the Theater of Pain
Raiding Rating Skip
Mythic+ Rating Skip

While on its surface, this trait may seem great (who wouldn’t want ~30% additional healing received?) it has two fatal flaws:

    1. The increased healing only applies while Celestial Brew is active—meaning that when you’re taking high damage and need more healing this trait gets worse.
    2. The increased healing only affects self-healing. While we have Celestial Fortune and GotOx, these do not account for a large portion of our healing received on most fights.
Evasive Stride
Source Kryxis the Voracious in the Sanguine Depths
Raiding Rating Skip
Mythic+ Rating Skip

Based on log data from beta testing of Mythic Castle Nathria, we can expect 10-20% of our damage taken from Stagger to be from Heavy Stagger due to a combination of high health pools relative to damage intake and frequent Purifying Brew casts. As a result, you can expect this trait to provide an effective ~0.4% DR to damage taken from Stagger.

Had this trait been available in Legion, it would have been utterly bonkers. However, changes to Brewmaster and to incoming damage profiles have rendered it effectively useless in Shadowlands.

Fortifying Ingredients
Source General Kaal in Castle Nathria
Raiding Rating Fine
Mythic+ Rating Fine

This trait has the unfortunate distinction of being marked as Fine solely due to the weakness of our other options. This adds a relatively small shield to Fortifying Brew. While layering cooldowns is generally not something that tanks want to do, this is more likely to be useful than either of the previous traits.

Harm Denial
Source Sludgefist in Castle Nathria
Raiding Rating Special
Mythic+ Rating Special

This conduit has the privilege of being the only endurance conduit to provide a potential DPS benefit through Expel Harm. While the healing bonus is not particularly useful, the fact that it is the only option that provides any damage gain (however minor) warrants mention.

By virtue of this, I would generally recommend this as your first Endurance conduit due to the weakness of all options defensively.

Important Note: although Expel Harm causes us to consume GotOx orbs, this trait does not increase the healing or damage from them.

Note: the exact positioning of Expel Harm within our rotation is being actively worked on following rotational changes due to legendaries.

Finesse Conduits

Finesse conduits aim to provide some sort of utility to the player. The power level of the Brewmaster finesse conduits is unfortunately quite low.

While there are conduits that are not listed here, they are not relevant in PvE content.

Dizzying Tumble
Source The Council of Blood in Castle Nathria
Raiding Rating Skip
Mythic+ Rating Fine

This conduit has very limited applications in raids, but has some utility in Mythic+. However, it is quite common to run away from packs that are stunned with Leg Sweep and as a result the value of this conduit is low.

Tumbling Technique
Source Hungering Destroyer in Castle Nathria
Raiding Rating Special
Mythic+ Rating Special

While this trait has no concrete applications, it is certainly the more fun option. Monks are a mobile class, so this isn’t something to be sought after per se, but it is still a decent choice and is what we’d recommend as your first (and hopefully only) Finesse conduit in raid content.
