Windwalker Dungeon Guide
Welcome to the Windwalker Dungeon Guide for Shadowlands! On this page, you will find an overview of how to DPS Mythic+ Dungeons as a Windwalker. For in-depth information about Mythic+, check out Seiryoku’s Mythic+ Tips and Tricks.
It is important to note that these guides are meant to be an entry into mid-higher level keystones from a Windwalker-only perspective. They are by no means a comprehensive guide of every mechanic or ability that you will find in a dungeon, but instead offer an overview of need-to-know information for a Windwalker wanting to get into pushing higher key levels. What’s New in Shadowlands
Returning and Altered abilities
Expel Harm – Returns as a usable spell. It doesn’t do a ton of healing, nor a ton of damage. You press it when you need a small heal but don’t want to stop to cast. We’ll look to use this on cooldown since it generates 1 Chi for 15 energy.
Dance of Chi-Ji – Becomes a talent that you use for AOE situations.
AoE Target Caps
In Shadowlands, Blizzard is instituting caps on AoE abilities in order to stem the tide of massive AoE pulling as a viable strategy in content like Mythic Plus.
Fists of Fury – Capped at 6 targets. It still deals 100% damage to your primary target and 50% to each of (now) 5 other targets.
Spinning Crane Kick – Capped at 6 targets. In addition to this cap, Mark of the Crane is now capped at 6 targets.
Whirling Dragon Punch – Currently uncapped.
Chi Burst – Current uncapped.
None of these caps has any functional effect on how or when we use these abilities.
Windwalkers are generally a strong spec in Mythic Plus, bringing many tricks to control targets, strong AOE pressure, and high mobility. Although the “meta” swings in and out, Windwalker tends to be a spec worth considering for high, low, and middle Mythic Plus play.

- Useful utility and control abilities
- Highly mobile
- Generally subpar single target
- Limited defensives
- Tier 1 (lv15) – Chi Burst
- Tier 2 (lv25) – Personal preference
- Tier 3 (lv30) – Personal preference
- Tier 4 (lv35) – Ring of Peace
- Tier 5 (lv40) –
- Tier 6 (lv45) – Dance of Chi-Ji
- Tier 7 (lv50) – Whirling Dragon Punch
Mythic Dungeon Tools – Must have. This addon is absolutely essential for planning routes, communicating plans with party members and checking abilities of certain mobs. This is the first thing you should get as a tank wanting to do M+.
Interrupt Tracker – Must have. There are many versions out there, so find one that works for you, but this is the one that I prefer.
