This week’s beta build came later in the week, but early in the morning, so apologies on the lateness of this post. That said, these changes aren’t necessarily doom and gloom for the spec.

Changes This Build

  • Mistweaver Monk core passive removed the 20% damage penalty on Rising Sun Kick.
  • Renewing Mist recharge rate increased to 9 seconds, up from 8 seconds.
  • Vivify targeted heal reduced to 95% Spell power, down from 105% Spell power.
  • Life Cocoon absorb reduced to 1100% Spell power, down from 1260% Spell power.

Speculation

As of the time of this writing, Total is updating the Renewing Mist Ability Spotlight that was published a few days ago, in order to get a full grasp on how this change affects Mistweaver, so stay tuned for more information in the discord server.

The Mistweaver Monk core passive is a mostly under-the-hood passive effect on the class, allowing developers to tweak numbers without having to edit the base tooltip numbers. This change to Rising Sun Kick‘s damage is an incredible buff to Mistweaver’s damage output, especially when you’re Kickweaving.

The Vivify change strikes a weird chord. It’s mainly a nerf in dungeons, but, as a consequence, this bumps up Mastery’s significance in single target healing in dungeons, however slightly.

The Life Cocoon change is slightly insignificant. It still absorbs a massive amount of damage, relative to the health pool of your target, with the perk of adding effective health, instead of increasing the target’s current health pool by whatever percent other externals do.

Overall, these changes are mostly felt in Dungeons and other content where you relied on Vivify as your main heal. Raid healing in either build is mostly unaffected.
